Anglo American with production increase in iron ore and copper
April 20.04.2012, XNUMX Melbourne / London - The global mining group Anglo American recorded a significant jump in its production figures.
As the company announced in advance, in the first three months of this year, it was able to produce a total of 11,7 million tons of iron ore. This was 17% more than in the same quarter last year. However, a few percent more had been explored in the previous quarter.
Anglo has also suffered from global weather conditions, as have its big competitors BHP Billiton Rio Tinto and Fortescue.
Copper production has been increased significantly
It has also been reported that red metal production in the first quarter of 2012 has been increased to over 160.000 tonnes. This was about 21% above the same quarter of the previous year. This was mainly due to the increased activity in the Chilean mines. However, this is still the result of the lawsuit with the local copper group Codelco, which could have a negative impact.
