Good news for Commerce Resources (WKN A0J2Q3 / TSX.V CCE). The Canadian company, which is developing the Ashram Rare Earth Deposit, originally planned to "just" drill down the details of mineralization with its 2014 winter drilling program, known as "infill" drilling. But as it turned out, the area where ashram was found to be the most valuable, heavy rare earths is probably larger than previously thought.
This is most evident in the EC14-103 well, which produced 42,39 meters of 1,60% total rare earth oxides (TREO), of which the so-called medium and heavy rare earth oxides were 11,6%, and EC14-100 of 48,87 meters with 1,47% TREO on 12,0% of medium and heavy rare earth oxides. This, so Commerce, allows it to interpret a clear extension of the zone with medium and heavy rare earth oxides.
But that's not all: Drilling also continued to produce high-grade mineralization grades above the levels reported by Commerce in its March March issue of Ashram's resource estimate. In addition, these high-grade mineralization intervals are central to the potential pit that Commerce identified with its Ashram Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) study.
In detail, 2,13% TREO was discovered here via 172,66 Meter, including a section with 2,32% over a length of 96,66 meters. In addition, Commerce encountered 1,98% TREO over 162,47 meters with 2,25% TREO over 56,32 meters and 2,01% TREO over a length of 81 meters.
No wonder Commerce President Dave Hodge believes the ashram deposit in the rare earth sector is special. The winter drilling program, which has been drilled within the already known resource, has not only increased confidence in the resource model, but has also extended the medium and heavy rare earth zone - the most valuable zone of the deposit - and high TREO grades in the resource identified adjacent areas, Hodge said. Along with the comparatively simple mineralogy, which allows for a concentrate with more than 40% TREO at high recovery rates, ashram clearly stands out among other rare earth deposits, said Commerces President.
