JT Energy Systems takes over the former Solarworld plant in Freiberg near Dresden. The start of 2019, founded by Jungheinrich AG and Triathlon Holding GmbH, is massively expanding its capacities. The early expansion of additional manufacturing facilities will create the largest European production center for batteries and charging systems in intralogistics. The aim is to secure early production capacity for the rapidly growing demand for lithium-ion battery technology and charging systems as well as other industrial applications in intralogistics. With the current production expansion in Freiberg, the technological leadership in electromobility and in particular in lithium-ion technology is being consolidated.
At the same time highly automated module production will take place in Glauchau in Saxony, and in the new Freiberg plant the assembly of the battery systems as well as the chargers. The operational start for the 42.000 qm plant in Freiberg is already planned for the first quarter of 2020. Around 200 jobs will be created in the short term.

Lithium-ion technology
Lithium-ion battery systems offer considerable advantages over the lead-acid batteries used up to now. They are intelligent and can communicate with the vehicle and the charging station. The result is the highest energy and usage efficiency. The high performance of lithium-ion batteries makes it increasingly possible to electrify fields of application in which combustion engines are still the norm today. In addition to the high performance, the advantages of lithium-ion technology include fast charging times, freedom from maintenance and a particularly long service life. Thanks to quick and short interim charging - without changing the battery - the truck fleet can be used almost continuously around the clock. Time-consuming battery changes are no longer necessary thanks to the use of the new battery technology. The provision of second batteries and changing devices can be saved. Furthermore, JT lithium-ion battery systems are sealed gas-free and guarantee the user the highest level of operational safety. Due to these properties, special cargo holds and extraction systems can be omitted.
