OPCO12: "Gesture Based Computing" online event on the 21. June 2012

OPCO12: "Gesture Based Computing" online event on the 21. June 2012June 19.06.2012, 2012 - As part of the 21 Open Course “Trends in e-teaching - the Horizon Report under the microscope”, an online event on the subject of “Gesture Based Computing” will take place on June 12. The OPCOXNUMX is a cooperation project between e-teaching.org, the Multimedia Kontor Hamburg (MMKH), studiumdigitale (University of Frankfurt) and the further education blogger Dr. Jochen Robes.

From the 18. to 29. June, the freely accessible online course OPCO12 deals with Gesture Based Computing. These are gesture-based applications that can be controlled with swipe and other finger, arm and body movements.

For many smartphone and tablet users, this type of control has become part of everyday life. The experience of direct interaction, as it is already used in games, for example, can change the operation of applications.
But how can the benefits of gesture control be better used in education?

Visiting the online event on the 21. June is Professor Ulrike Lucke, professor of computer science at the Chair of Complex Multimedia Application Architectures at the University of Potsdam. Her research interests include the heterogeneity and interoperability of web-based architectures, including mobile and pervasive computing, especially in the field of e-learning. Among other things, she is currently leading a central e-learning initiative to anchor the use of digital media through technical, organizational and material development across the broader university.

Title of the online event: Gesture Based Computing
Speaker: Professor Ulrike Lucke (University of Potsdam)
Moderator: Claudia Bremer (graduate diploma, University of Frankfurt)
Date: Thursday, 21.06.2012, 17: 00 clock

The OPCO12 runs from the 16. April to 21. July 2012 exclusively on the Internet and is open to anyone interested. In the course unit of the 18. to 29. June 2012, which is supervised by Claudia Bremer, is about the topic "Gesture Based Computing". The Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media
The Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media (IWM) in Tübingen is researching teaching and learning with digital technologies. Around 60 scientists from cognitive, behavioral and social sciences work on interdisciplinary research questions on the individual and cooperative acquisition of knowledge in media environments. Since 2009, the IWM, together with the University of Tübingen, has been running Germany's first science campus on the subject of "Education in Informational Environments".
