Aug 05.08.2019, 3 - SAN JOSE, Calif .-- (BUSINESS WIRE) - Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient energy conversion, today announced new members to its InnoSwitch ™ 95 family of Offline CV / CC Flyback switcher ICs. The new ICs offer up to 100% efficiency over the full load range and up to XNUMXW in closed adapter implementations without the need for a heat sink. This groundbreaking increase in performance is achieved through an internally developed high-voltage GaN switch technology.
InnoSwitch3-CP, InnoSwitch3-EP, and InnoSwitch3-Pro quasi-resonant ICs combine primary, secondary, and feedback circuits in a single surface-mount package. In the newly released family members, GaN switches replace the traditional silicon high-voltage transistors on the primary side of the IC, significantly reducing power loss line losses and switching losses during operation. This leads to a much lower energy waste and thus to a higher efficiency and power output through the space-saving InSOP-24D package.
The new ICs target highly efficient flyback designs, such as USB-PD and high-power mobile device chargers / adapters, set-top boxes, displays, devices, networking and gaming products. They provide accurate CV / CC / CP values, independent of external factors components and a simple interface to fast charging protocol ICs. The InnoSwitch3-CP and -EP variants are hardware-configurable, while the InnoSwitch3-Pro includes a sophisticated digital interface for software control of CV and CC setpoints, exception handling and security mode options.
