Rare earth project Storkwitz
Objective
The SES intends to drill an exploration well at the well-known Seltenerden deposit Storkwitz near Delitzsch. The hole is drilled at an angle of approximately 10 ° out of the perpendicular in the direction of NW and is to reach a depth of 700 m. This corresponds to the previous exploration depth of this deposit through historical GDR drilling.
The main objective of our drilling is to confirm the GDR data on mineralization and content (Table). The new data is intended to enable a reservoir resource estimate in accordance with the internationally recognized JORC (Joint Ore Reserves Committee) standard.
At the same time, it is planned that the newly drilled hole will provide further evidence that further exploration, even at greater depth, is promising.
However, the core drilling is also carried out for the purpose of material gain. With the help of the ore thus obtained not only a geological-mineralogical characterization is to take place, there are also extensive process-technological treatment attempts planned to verify the feasibility of enrichment and recovery of the coveted rare earths.
