Rubicon Minerals Appoints Michael Lalonde as President and Chief Operating Officer

02.05.2012 -Mr. Lalonde will assume the post of President and CEO following a transition period - Rubicon Minerals Corporation ("Rubicon") is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Lalonde as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company. Mr. Lalonde will assume the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company following his appointment and transitional period of up to six months. During the transition period, David Adamson will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer and subsequently assume the role of Chairman of the Board. Mr. Lalonde's mission is to refine the development of Phoenix's proprietary gold project at Red Lake, Ontario, and to build the company for future growth. 

Mr. Lalonde holds a BSc in engineering from the Mining Department of Michigan Technological University and is a registered engineer in Ontario. He will step down from his current role as Director of Underground Projects at Goldcorp Inc., where he is responsible for managing the construction and development of Goldcorp's underground mining projects internationally, as well as for the preparation and supervision of economic studies (from frame assessments to feasibility studies) , His current responsibilities at Goldcorp include directing the development of the Cochenour project near Red Lake. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Lalonde was a director of Goldcorp's Red Lake gold mine near Red Lake, Ontario. In this role, he was responsible for the mine infrastructure, development and production programs at this world-class gold deposit. During his tenure as Managing Director of Goldcorps Mine Marlin in Guatemala between 2006 and 2008, this underground mine Marlin reached full production status.

Prior to joining Goldcorp, Mr. Lalonde gained valuable experience in various gold mining projects worldwide. He has served as manager of the Ken Snyder Mine from start-up to full production (managing director for Dynatex, contractor of Franco-Nevada), operations manager of the Golden Patricia Mine in Ontario (Barrick Gold), as the underground mining manager Glamis Gold, Managing Director of the Pamour Mine at Timmins (Royal Oak Mines) and Operations Manager at Bell Creek Mine (Canamax Resources), Timmins, Ontario.
