The world's leading battery experts meet at 6. to 9. October in Ulm. On the 12. Advanced Lithium Batteries for Automotive Applications (ABAA 12) will discuss current industry developments. The event will be held in a particularly high-caliber manner. Representatives of BASF, BMW, Daimler, EcoPro, General Motors, Nissan, Renault, Toshiba, Umicore and Volkswagen, among others, will take the opportunity to discuss the future of this key electromobility technology. At the heart of the ABAA-12 are issues related to the lifetime and safety of electrochemical energy storage devices. The Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), together with the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU) and the International Automotive Lithium Battery Association (IALB), is the organizer of the conference, which takes place in Ulm in the Maritim Hotel. Details and registration documents can be found at: ABAA-12 /

The ABAA-12 conference will bring together senior policy makers from Germany, Europe, Japan, and the US, as well as representatives of the automotive industry, materials and cell manufacturers, and world-renowned scientists. The approximately 300 participants not only expect lectures on current developments, but also many opportunities for exchange on future research topics. The ABAA is an international conference with changing venues across all continents. The conference management of the 12. ABAA in Ulm is located at Dr. med. Margret Wohlfahrt-Mehrens (ZSW), Prof. Stefano Passerini (HIU) and dr. Khalil Amine (IALB / Argonne National Laboratory, USA).

"The automotive industry expects 2025 to produce more than 20 millions of electric cars every year - and batteries need to be produced for all of these vehicles," says dr. Margret Wohlfahrt-Mehrens, ZSW director of battery research. "The 12. ABAA combines the entire spectrum of topics, from basic research through experience from everyday use to production issues of this key technology. "

"In addition to an overview of the current state of the art, trends for the future are presented and discussed - including new materials and technologies - as well as topics that are at least as important as sustainability and recycling," say Prof. Stefano Passerini and Dr. Dominic Bresser from HIU.

Four days ABAA 12: lectures, labs, exhibitions

Around 40 experts from industry and science present at the 12. ABAA their current findings. In eleven sessions over three days, they report on new materials, better components and practical experience. There is also a poster exhibition and many opportunities for discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. The conference program starts at the 6. October with tours to the battery laboratories of the HIU and ZSW in Ulm. The conference will be accompanied by an industrial exhibition. Interested companies still have the opportunity to participate.
