DEUTSCHE ROHSTOFF AG: RHEIN PETROLEUM SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES 3D SEISMIC PROGRAM IN SOUTHERN GERMANYLargest 3D seismic of the last 10 years / old and new oil fields in sight / budget and timetable met

01.06.2012 Heidelberg - The oil and gas company Rhein Petroleum GmbH, co-founded by Deutsche Rohstoff AG, announces that the extensive 3D seismic campaign in Hesse, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria has now been successfully completed.

Dr. Michael Suana, Managing Director of Rhein Petroleum, commented: "We are proud that, as a young company, we have successfully carried out the largest German 3D seismic campaign of the last 10 years. The previous coarse evaluations indicate several potentially oil- or gas-bearing structures, including larger ones. After the completion of the evaluation work, we will design a suitable drilling program and bring down the first hole, if possible, this year. "

The measurements began in early September 2011 in the license area "Mindelheim" in the Lower Allgäu. They covered an area of 157 km2 northeast of the city of Memmingen. In this area is the formerly largest Bavarian oil field Arlesried, which promoted between 1964 and 1994 around 14 million barrels. The field has significant residual potential, which can be economically exploited with today's technology. In addition, other unexcavated and previously undiscovered deposits are suspected in the environment. The surveying work was completed in November 2011.

In the Hessian part of the Upper Rhine Graben, in the license area "Northern Upper Rhine", the survey started 2011 at the end of October. For the 245 km2 large area along the Rhine north of Mannheim up to Darmstadt the work lasted until the end of March 2012. It is a densely populated area that also contains some old fields, including Stockstadt. These fields extracted between 1952 and 1994 from 47 drilling around 7 million barrels of oil. Here, too, previously undiscovered occurrences are suspected in the environment of the Altfelder ("near-field potential").

The third investigation in the license area "Karlsruhe North" and "Graben Neudorf" began in early January 2012 and was able to 16. May be completed. The survey on the two licenses covers an area of 270 km2. Especially in this area more "Speyer-like" oil fields are suspected. A few years ago in Speyer, the largest southern German oil field was discovered by accident (geothermal drilling), which has meanwhile come into production and, according to the operator, has recoverable reserves of 50 million barrels of oil.

Partnerships with Wintershall and GDF SUEZ exist for the license areas Mindelheim and Karlsruhe-Nord. Both large companies had entrusted Rhein Petroleum with the operational leadership for 3D seismic. Both the budget and the schedule were met with almost no deviations despite the size of the campaign. Overall, 672 km2 were examined.

The rapid and relatively problem-free implementation of such a comprehensive survey in densely populated regions is regarded by Rhein Petroleum as a notable success. This was possible thanks to a very professional management of the experienced team, close cooperation with the authorities involved and a very open communication with the public. In the three areas there were information centers for the citizens, in addition, the contracted service providers distributed thousands of information leaflets to all households that were in the survey area. The regional media reported extensively before and during the work. The response was overwhelmingly positive.

Deutsche Rohstoff AG, listed in the Entry Standard, is building a new raw material producer. The focus is on gold, oil & gas and so-called high-tech metals such as tungsten, tin and rare earths. All projects are located in politically stable countries with a focus on Germany. The business model is based on the (re-) development of deposits that have already been well explored in the past. The first production started in January 2011. More information about Deutsche Rohstoff AG at www.rohstoff.de.

Seismic surveys serve to better understand the structure and structure of possible oil or gas bearing layers and thereby significantly improve the chances of discovery. An 3D seismic allows a spatial representation of the geological structures of the subsoil after evaluation of the recorded data. For this purpose, the transit times and the amplitudes of sound waves are measured, which are artificially generated on the earth's surface and pass through the underground. The generated inaudible sound waves have frequencies between 12 Hz and 100 Hz and are referred to as "seismic waves". These seismic waves are so weak that they can only be detected with highly sensitive measuring instruments (geophones). Further information at www.rheinpetroleum.de.
