Tata Group, the parent company of Tata Motors, has pledged an investment of ₹ 4.000 Crore (approximately 539 million euros) to build a lithium-ion battery plant in Gujarat, more specifically in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) , According to a senior official of the regional government, the company has already acquired a plot of 126 hectares in Dholera.
