FYI'S HPA PILOT SYSTEM STARTS WITH SAMPLE PRODUCTION
core items
- FYI's HPA pilot plant will start production today after successful commissioning.
- The pilot plant operation replicates the planned HPA process flowchart.
- The operating performance and final results of the installation are used to review the process flow and costs.
- The data obtained are also used to support the results of the engineering prior to the feasibility stage, the proven production quantities are in the lowest quarter of the costs in the global HP manufacturing industry.
- The data obtained from the study are important for improving the design process and equipment design and costing before commercial plant construction
FYI Resources Ltd (ASX: FYI) is pleased to announce that the company now has its own manufacturing facility. Today, the test production of high purity alumina (HPA) started at its newly built site and put the pilot plant into operation.
FYI's special pilot facility in Welshpool, Western Australia, is the result of 12 months of research and development and refinement of an innovative process flow diagram. The development requirements would be high in order to process and refine aluminum-containing clay (kaolin) efficiently and inexpensively in order to finally obtain the high-quality product HPA.
The pilot plant is to be operated continuously and around the clock for 7 days in order to increase productivity. Demonstration of the "end-to-end" processing of the FYI HPA process flow diagram.
The main parameters for the plant are:
Gegenstand | Detail |
conditioning details | Specially developed, 3-stage hydrochloric acid leaching elimination cycle. |
Start of pilot plant trials | 02. Oct 19 |
Uptime | Throughout 24 / 7 in 2 shifts a day |
operating time | 1 week |
system design | Uniquely modular "end-to-end" construction kit |
Performance | 1.0 kg per hour |
target value | > 99,99% Al203 |
The pilot plant was designed and constructed jointly by the joint FYI HPA study directors - GR Engineering Services and Independent Metallurgical Operations.
Roland Hill, Managing Director of FYI, commented on the start of test production: “We are very pleased to be able to start test production of HPA from our specially designed and built pilot plant. This fact represents an important technical and business milestone in the commercialization of the company's HPA strategy and is the culmination of a large number of dedicated and innovative ideas and efforts to bring the facility into production. We are very confident that the study results will confirm our results of the pre-feasibility study and provide excellent data for the implementation of our final feasibility study which is currently being carried out ”.
The resulting HPA end product will be audited for quality control and assurance before being passed on to end users and customer groups with whom FYI has already engaged in advanced discussions on HPA marketing and off-take agreements.
FYI was recently honored by Western Australian Prime Minister Mark McGowan of the WA Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation with the support of the Lead Agency, as FYI helped translate the WA government's future battery industry strategy. The pilot plant is at a critical stage of the project implementation of the Cadoux Kaolin HPA project.

About FYI Resources Limited
FYI's positions itself as a major manufacturer of high purity aluminum oxide (4N or HPA) in the rapidly developing markets for LEDs, electric vehicles, smartphones and TV screens and other related high-tech products.
The basis of FYI's HPA strategy is Cadoux's highest quality aluminum-containing clay (kaolin) and the positive reaction of the feedstock to the company's innovative and integrated process flows resulting from the use of sophisticated moderate temperature and atmospheric pressure technologies , The quality characteristics of the technology combine and lead to a first-class HPA project potential.
FYI is successfully progressing with the final feasibility studies and production studies of the pilot plant and is underpinning a planned production of 8.000 tons per year with 4N and 5N HPA.
