Great Western Minerals Appoints New Managers

Great Western Minerals (CVE: GWG, OTC: GWMGF, FFT: GWM) has named David Kennedy as chief executive for Rare Earth Extraction Co (Rareco). Daughter Rareco holds the title for the Steenkampskraal rare earth project in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.

Kennedy will be responsible for the development and operation of the project.

Kennedy is co-founder of Less Common Metals, a company acquired by Great Western that manufactures rare earth based alloys. He has been working as a Great Westerns Manager of Metals and Alloys since 2008.

Ian Higgins was named as successor in this function. He will take over responsibility for Less Common Metals and the Great Western Technologies division. Higgins had been Operations Manager for Less Common Metals since 2001.

Great Western has also appointed David Murphy as Commercial Director for Less Common Metals. He has 30 years of experience in the rare earth sector, most recently working for Johnson Matthey as a rare earth product manager.

Great Western produces specialty alloys for batteries, magnet applications, and the aerospace industry from two locations: Less Common Metals in Birkenhead, UK, and Great Western Technologies in Troy, Michigan.

In addition to Steenkampskraal, the company owns interests in six rare earth exploration and development properties in North America.
