Strategy of the rare earth Storkwitz AG
The long-term goal of the Seltenerden Storkwitz AG is to form an important position in Germany's strategic supply of raw materials. The 17 elements or metals of the rare earths find above all in the high and environmental technology use and provide since the shortage of Chinese exports (about 95% of all SEE are currently still mined in China), one of the critical raw materials for the German and foreign industry represents.
The development and expansion of the Saxon deposit in Storkwitz, currently the only known repository for rare earth elements (SEE) in Central Europe, is the focus of our activities.
In addition, possible other rare earth projects should also be examined. Another focus of our strategic positioning is the cooperation with partners from industry, research and universities. It has already been agreed that the material recovered in Storkwitz will be tested for new treatment technologies. In terms of treatment technology, virtually nothing has happened at rare earthen during the last 30 years and Germany has many locational advantages with its highly developed chemical and mechanical engineering industry.
The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology's paper on the Federal Government's raw materials strategy states: "The experience of recent years has shown that integrated industrial structures with a high degree of vertical integration are less susceptible to crises. Therefore, it is in the interest of the industrial and technology location Germany to have its own industrial raw material processing capacities for important raw materials and raw material groups. Own raw material processing companies in Germany therefore contribute not only to value creation but also to technology development. "
The aim of the SEE occurrence in Storkwitz is to develop decisive impulses and ideas for the development of technology leaps, which we consider necessary for the economic and environmentally compatible feasibility of the project.
The idea of a closed value-added cycle in the area of the city of Delitzsch is not just a visionary but an entrepreneurial requirement.
