Great Western Minerals Expects Completion of Drilling at Steenkampskraal in Mid-December

Great Western Minerals (CVE: GWG, OTC: GWMGF, FFT: GWM) has now completed 26 drilling over 2.307 meters of its prospective, mid-December drilling program at the Steenkampskraal Rare Earth Project in South Africa.
Of the completed drill holes, 19 should provide samples for metallurgical testing and the remainder to further define the resource.

Completion of the new NI43 101 compliant resource estimate for Steenkampskraal is expected in the first half of 2012.

The rehabilitation of the former producing shaft on Steenkampskraal is proceeding according to plan and should be completed in December 2011.

Great Western plans to commence underground mining in the first quarter of 2012 and strives to be a full-time producer of rare earths by the very beginning of 2013.

Great Western produces specialty alloys for batteries, magnet applications, and the aerospace industry from two locations: Less Common Metals in Birkenhead, UK, and Great Western Technologies in Troy, Michigan.

In addition to Steenkampskraal, the company owns interests in six rare earth exploration and development properties in North America.
